Yeadon Domes, a global name in air-supported structures, is going to launch their Climate Controlled Air Supported Domes in Australia while collaborating with tbpm. And these domes will be distributed in Australia with the help of the former professional squash player, Todd Bowden, from tbpm.
With upcoming sports events, like Olympics 2032 in Brisbane and Victoria being the front runner for Commonwealth Games in 2026, Air Supported Domes will serve as a safe place against the Australian’s harsh weather conditions.
These Air Supported Domes will allow sporting facilities to have year-round use regardless of the weather conditions. The best thing is it’s just at a fraction of the cost of a permanent structure.
In addition, it would be an efficient yet inexpensive solution for the upcoming Olympics and Commonwealth games. Providing the opportunity to offer permanent and temporary sports year-round with minimal infrastructure costs.
While talking about these domes, Todd Bowden says:
“I first came across Air supported domes in the Mid 90s whilst living and playing in New York and then again recently whilst working in Saudi Arabia.”

Air Supported Domes have been part of sports globally for decades. Now, it’s time to bring them home.
The weather conditions of Australia are severe, as in summers, the average temperature is 35 to 40 degrees in major cities and surrounding areas. Additionally, high humidity levels are observed during summer. Victoria, Tasmania, and New South Wales receive snowfall in winters, marking sports activities hard to practice.
Despite harsh weather conditions, it is recorded that in 2019, almost 90% of adults engaged in various sports activities. Viewing the extreme weather, the Sports Medicine Association opted for the Extreme Heat Policy.
Not only is the weather of Australia severe, but the report published by the Climate Council suggests it will be more intense by 2040. The average temperature during summer will reach 50 degrees, making summer sports difficult, specifically when it comes to global events.
Therefore, Yeadon and tbpm collaboration will serve as a turning point in sports. With an air-supported dome, sports activities can be held all year long without worrying about the weather. They come with the facility of internally controlled temperature settings to maintain the temperature inside the dome. The installation period is 4-6 months, along with the facility to adapt to existing setups.
“Operations play a significant part in the success of sporting facilities and the agility of domes and its use, having an operational model for them plays a significant part.” Says Todd Bowden.
